After being implanted with false memories by Adam, Ianto reveals to Jack that he thinks he killed three girls. Not believing him, Jack puts him through a lie detector. The lie detector says Ianto is telling the truth, however, Jack still refuses to believe it. Later, when asked what memories define him, Ianto responds with "You", directed at Jack. Jack then proceeds to brush back Ianto's hair and kisses him on the forehead. While trying to solve the mystery of Jonahs' disappearance, Gwen walks in on Jack and Ianto having sex.

Jack later reveals that the two were previously engaging in "naked hide-and-seek. After saving Jack from a weevil attack, Ianto begins to flirt with Jack and continually compliments Jack's coat in an attempt to get Jack to offer him a job at Torchwood Three.

Jack deflects his efforts at first and continues to reject Ianto's pleas for a job. Ianto then asks Jack to help him catch a Pterodactyl. After they catch the Pterodactyl together, they almost share a kiss, but Ianto stops it from happening at the last second. Jack then finally offers Ianto a job at Torchwood Three and compliments Ianto's suit.

Once the Daleks are revealed to be the masterminds behind the moving of the Earth, Jack grabs both Ianto and Gwen, and kisses them on the head. Whilst at a hospital extracting an alien organ from a body, Ianto remarks how one of the doctors that they spoke to thought that they were a couple.

Clearly though, Ianto had to know if he went too far with Jack he might not be able to control himself. So, I think yes "Cyberwoman" was their first kiss.

It explains Jack's sudden lustiness towards Ianto in trying to bring him back to life. But the way this episode worked, I could believe the writers had all this mapped out from the beginning. I hope somewhere this point gets worked into future episodes. Ianto soon became integral to the group, though his attempts to shroud his past impacted them in a bad way. He later fell in love with Jack and became his romantic partner. However, Ianto met an early demise as part of a mass murder instigated by the ambassador when it spread a deadly virus through Thames House.

The after-effects of Ianto's death left Jack riddled with guilt and grief, ultimately spelling the end of Torchwood Three.

Right as his team were captured, Jack stepped in and incapacitated the cannibals. The cannibals were arrested by the police. Ianto and Jack become closer. He was in the Hub when Jack confronted Mary and tricked her into teleporting into the Sun. Later that night Jack came to The Ferret to investigate some missing people in Radyr and Ianto became concerned when Jack went after Mandy. He theorised that the missing people wanted to leave of their own accord, and thought it was Mandy. He told Jack to let him deal with it and went along with Mandy when she took him to meet the Saviour.

Jack interrupted the confrontation, revealing the Saviour was a slave trader, and Ianto let the Saviour take him through the Rift and left. After his mother called him, he went back to save Jack, shooting the Saviour and ordering Mandy to leave. He then went to retrieve Jack from being processed in the slavers camp. When a number of high profile celebrities took a flight on the SkyPuncher , Ianto also boarded the flight to ensure that nothing went wrong and also to get close to Ephraim Salt to learn more about The Committee.

While he was on this flight, Zeynep called him about injury at work insurance and Ianto asked her to help him find any information she could on the SkyPuncher. He bought insurance for Myfanwy and Zeynep also helped with some first aid. She then helped him through the procedure get to land the ship. Trying to find a phone charger, Ianto found out that that Ephraim Salt was alive and he bit him. Zaynep later suggested that he was being framed.

Shortly afterwards, the autopilot was switched on by remote, and he found out that the ship was being piloted towards the call centre. Ianto realised that spaceship was homing into Zeynep's headset.
